We want to make our customers and prospective customers aware of the value of linking their business and environmental goals with a packaging supplier which now includes energy and the well being of the environment into our product choices.
The primary benefit of buying green power is environmental protection. For many organizations, the electricity they purchase is a significant source of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Voluntary green power consumers are making a real difference environmentally by supporting the development of new power plants that generate electricity with significantly less air pollution and no net increase in greenhouse gas emissions. Although there is a premium for green power, we have found that the value exceeds the cost of green power purchases.

Our Green power is an environmentally friendly, 100% "emission-free" electricity product that is generated from wind, a renewable energy source; "Windmills" (wind turbine installations across the United States) generate electricity using only pollution-free wind as fuel. It's renewable, clean and the future! Traditional energy generation is responsible for 1/3 of all air pollution and is a significant consumer of fossil fuels. Conventional electricity generation is the leading contributor to smog, global warming, and poor air quality. It is responsible for approximately 1/3 of carbon dioxide emissions (a major greenhouse gas, implicated in global climate change), 2/3 of sulfur dioxide (contributes to acid rain and snow, brown clouds and regional haze) emissions, 1/4 nitrogen oxide (mix with hydrocarbons, heat and sunlight to form ground level ozone and smog, a health hazard) emissions and 1/3 of mercury emissions (a neuro-toxic heavy metal that is linked to numerous health effects in wildlife and people).
LPS has chosen to use electricity generated by wind power to power our printing presses, laminators, extruders, label presses, and bag machines. At LPS this Green certified wind generated energy will prevent the release of 1,450,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (which contributes to global warming) per year and countless pounds of nitrogen oxides (which contributes to the formation of acid rain) per year; which would have been created through conventional power generation. The benefits from the reduction of carbon dioxide is equal to planting a forest of more than 98,000 trees, while the air-quality benefits equal the eliminating of more than 1,257,000 miles of automobile travel (approximately 105 cars being taken off the road).
